Do you have a critic on your back telling you that you can’t be successful? You know, the person who points the finger, argues with everything you say, or makes ‘that face’ when you talk about what you want to achieve. Or:
- Maybe you have read something that made you feel as though success was too far away.
- Maybe you heard something that made you feel as though you can’t have what you want.
- Maybe you have been flat out told that it can’t be done.
In all of these situations, there is one simple way you can still find success in anything. And, you can test the principle out for yourself.
By the way: I learned this principle from one of Mark Joyner’s courses, and he KNOWS success. In fact, his service ‘Simpleology‘ is all about success.
How Success Is Found: The Simple Way
Success is there. You may not be successful every time you try to do something, but mathematically success has to appear along the way.
We can test this theory out.
Grab a pair of dice and determine a number that you want to roll. For this article, we will focus on 10.
How To Avoid Success
With your number 10 in mind, sit there and do nothing. Don’t roll the dice. Don’t even touch the dice. Just sit there and hope that magically a 10 will appear.
That’s right! Nothing!
If you have a goal in mind, but don’t do anything towards that goal, then you can’t be successful. It’s mathematically impossible because zero effort produces zero results.
How To Have Success
With your number 10 in mind, make two columns on a piece of paper and write down ’10’ and ‘Not 10′ as headers. Then, grab the dice and roll them. Mark down whether or not you rolled a 10 or not down with a little tick mark.
Roll the dice again and mark down whether or not you rolled a 10 with another tick mark.
Keep going until you want to stop.
You will see that some effort will increase your chances of rolling a 10. In fact, the more you try, the more tick marks you will have in the column labeled ’10’.
Try This With Other Games Of Chance
Once you see how taking action influences your success, try this with a harder game of chance.
For instance, get a deck of cards and try to turn up any 5, or a specific 5 of a certain suit. Again, take a sheet of paper, make two columns with the goal you have in one column and everything else in the other column, and tick off how many times you pull out a 5 and have success with your goal.
Why bother doing that? Because you will develop the awareness that harder things require more effort to find success. But, success is still there. You CAN find success with effort.
How Success Is Found Outside Of Dice And Cards
So, the simple way to find success in anything is to try. We just proved that. But, you may be thinking, “My goals are not as simple as a number or card.”
The good news is that taking action is one way to find success both in games of chance and in real life, but in real life there are also other things you can do to increase your chances of success.
For instance, you can gain more skill in the area you want success. If you want to succeed as a writer, you can improve your writing skills. And every time you put forward some action, and apply your new skills, you increase your chances of success.
You can also gain knowledge to help you experience more success. The more you know, the more you can tweak your effort in writing to have success. For instance, instead of posting to a website that will not showcase your writing properly, you can contribute to a website that will. It takes skill to write the piece, knowledge to know where to focus your effort, as well action to increase your chances of success.
Other things you can do to increase your chances of success include:
- Develop healthier habits to increase your focus, energy, and ability to take action
- Reach out for additional help that can reduce effort and help you take more action.
- Implement a schedule that allows you to focus on what you need to take action on and how much action you need to take (See how Goals On Track can help you do that).
- Develop a mindset that keeps you focused and motivated towards success
- Make more time in your day by waking up earlier and getting rid of unnecessary tasks so that you can take more action on the things you want
Ignore Your Critics
Now you know that success is possible. It’s mathematically impossible not to experience success. With effort, you have to experience success some of the time. And, the more effort you put in, the more success you will experience.
The last thing you have to remember is that only you have control over your success. If someone else tells you that you can’t do it, or makes you feel as though you can’t do it, then you can either keep rolling the dice and experience success, or you can sit there and stop doing anything. The choice is up to you.
