The Law Of Attraction: What Do You Believe?

A Few Thoughts On The Law of Attraction

There are many thoughts out there about the law of attraction, and as part of the #MBUstorm challenge at MyBlogU (which requires us to come up with a new blog idea), I was thinking about putting together a website based around the law of attraction and everything that comes with it.

The Law of Attraction simply says that you attract into your life whatever you think about. Your dominant thoughts will find a way to manifest. – Steve Pavlina

My Thoughts on The Law Of Attraction

Obviously I believe in the law, as I talk about it all the time on my blogs. It’s definitely made my life happier. I’ve manifested some pretty amazing things in my life, and with the help of courses like Unlimited Abundance and Manifestation Miracle, I’ve really stepped up my manifestation game.

I don’t know the bible, so I can’t quote here – but, I have often heard bible verses and thought, “That’s exactly what I believe about the law of attraction!” In fact, I had a very religious friend quoting to me from the bible on why some people get more than others, and every word she said to me fit right in with the law of attraction.

What I find interesting is that so many people are sold on religion, but not the law of attraction. It just seems to tie together for me. The higher power, whatever name you give it/him/her, seems to want the same thing for us – abundance and satisfaction.

With that thought, I searched for a video that tied the two together, and I found the following video on the law of attraction from a biblical perspective.

Why I Believe In The Law Of Attraction

I believe in what I experience, so it just makes sense that I would believe in this law. Over and over again, I’ve attracted into my life what is lined up with my dominant thoughts and beliefs.

Actually, when I first heard about the book ‘The Secret’, I was interested in what it was about. I kept hearing about this ‘secret’, and I wanted to know more about it. I didn’t tell anyone this. I didn’t even attempt to go out and get the book.

One day I went to my parent’s house, and my mother had bought me the book as a gift. This was coming from a woman who never suggested anything about the getting what you want in life without blood, sweat and tears. In my opinion, I manifested that baby!

The book is just over 8 years old and went through a few moves, so I’ve lost the cover, but you get the idea…

The book is not the only thing I’ve manifested in my life. I’ve had many things come into my life at the exact time that I’ve needed them, and I’ve manifested many things that I didn’t want in my life as well. The consistent factor in all of these experiences is that my dominant thoughts were aligned with what I attracted into my life.

The biggest one was my husband. I always expected the worst in relationships. I expected to only meet jerks – and I did. Over and over again I met jerks, dated them, and then kicked myself after they used me or mistreated me in some way.

At a certain point, I decided that I deserved a good man. This was before I even heard of the law of attraction. I wrote down exactly what I wanted in a man, and firmly believed that a good guy was going to be my next boyfriend. And in less than a month I met my now husband, who is an amazing man.

In short, I’ve seen the law of attraction theory work in all areas of my life. I believe it without question.

What Other People Think About The Law Of Attraction

It doesn’t matter how much I believe in it – the whole concept needs to resonate with other people too if I want to blog about it. So, I asked some people at MyBlogU what they thought about the law of attraction and manifestation. Following are the answers I got.

It’s Built Right In!

There is absolutely, unequivocally no mistaking the power of positivity. Speaking from my own life experiences, I’m 59 Years Old, and I have been very successful in doing different things – major things – that the average guy probably wouldn’t try because many people just can’t make the connection of being and staying positive and good will. I know it works because sometimes the hair stands up on my arms, back and neck when I get a confirmation.

Recently I managed to find, purchase and change an engine for someone, who I did not know and who didn’t know me.

They had zilch for money as I did, but my positive attitude plugged into the universe and it all came together.

The engine was in Canada of all places, and normally I wouldn’t have taken a second look at the ad, but I knew that it was for me because it said FREE SHIPPING! Really from Canada?

I told the owner of the scrap yard the story of this Mexican woman with three children (two of which has full blown Autism) who needed the engine. And with the help of the local church – for funds – the engine came to my front door. It was a true miracle and evidence that you do have the power within to make something very substantial out of nothing at all!

I can remember this woman being so naive as to what was going on, running on MY faith alone. I’m disabled and have had all lower discs in my spine removed as well as a C-3 cervical. L_3,4,5 and S-1 were fused together, and bone plugs rods and screws help keep the integrity of it all together. I can barely lift 25lbs without breaking a sweat and most days have intestinal problems passing stools, but I keep my mind on moving forward as best I can.

Anyhow, she was expecting a NEW engine and, long story short, the engine only had 17,000 miles on it. That shocked ME!! It took me about 2 months, but I got it done and it worked perfectly.

As a direct result of just being there for her, she and her son were able to keep their jobs, and close on a new, first home, that was all in jeopardy just months before. SHE was basically at the mercy of the Universe and it chose me. – Donald Whitehead

To me, this story wasn’t necessarily about him attracting what he wanted to him; although that was part of it. It was also about a woman attracting what she needed to her through someone else. It’s about how all the parts work together to bring someone what they need and desire most. It’s a great example of how everything lines up in order to get you exactly the result you want.

The Secret

I read the first half of The Secret. Inspirational, but I never finished it having extracted the message from what I had read.

I have a Chinese model of two turtles that has a coin embedded underneath. Having it is supposed to keep some money in your wallet at all times. Worked for 15 years so far, through good times and bad.

Seriously though, I think having a positive attitude makes good things happen. People want to help positive people. Nobody wants to know you when you are negative, so in many ways you make your own luck. – Phil Turner From Understand Your Relationship

A lot of people talk about how the law of attraction is really just having a positive attitude about life and being more open to seeing and taking action on the things you want or need. I really believe, like Phil says, that a positive attitude does make good things happen, whether it is the law of attraction or not at work.

I feel that it has little correlation to making something happen. I have recently worked on how the Law of Attraction has worked for lottery winners. What the winners did were run the things in their mind after winning the lottery, how would they react, and what they are going to spend on after they receive the money.

In other words, the Law of Attraction is a state of mind. It helps in giving you a positive outlook in life, to approach things with a glass of water half-full, and not get down on your failures and mistakes. But whether you can make something happen using this law, I highly doubt. – Christopher Jan Benitez

Again, this is the take that the positive attitude is what really helps you attract the things you want into your life. And, it is a very common point of view on the law of attraction.

Should I Start A Blog On The Idea?

It’s a tough one.

I think that the idea behind the law of attraction is going to catch on with more people in the coming years, and I think that starting a blog about it would benefit my personal life as I focus on getting what I want and not what I don’t want.

But because there are already some popular blogs and people out there talking about the law of attraction, I would need to have a unique angle on the subject and have a plan in order to really showcase why I believe in the law so much and how it can benefit other people’s lives.

For now, I think I will keep it as a subject I sometimes write about on my blogs, but not start a blog solely focused on the idea.

  1. Great article Kari
I count myself as logical and scientific in my approach yet I still believe in the Law of Attraction, not in things like winning the lottery, but on other life events that seem to be random, but are not. Things like who you meet, what happens when driving and how well you do financially are NOT random, but ARE influenced by the Law.

PS – I think it would be a great subject for a blog if it is so important in your life. That is the only justification you need.

  2. Thanks for featuring me on your blog, although I do sound a bit pessimistic as opposed to others LOL.

Regarding turning this topic into a standalone blog, I think it’s a good idea. I haven’t seen a really good authoritative blog about this Law so there’s a lot to be gained if you go forward with this.

    1. Thanks for contributing Chris. I think it is a very valid point you made that a lot of people have.

I was totally set against creating that blog, but now that I wrote this post and reflected on what I believe, I think the blog could be beneficial to my personal happiness and success.

  3. Au contraire, Christopher! I think you really did hit the thumbtack on the head with : “the Law of Attraction is a state of mind.” It absolutely is! And that’s a lot of what people tend to miss. It’s not the visualizing of a red corvette that plants it in your driveway, but something much deeper. When you truly change your mindset, truly commit to being positive and growing and verdant, that’s when life starts to change for the better.
I love this, Kari, and yes–would love to see you creating this blog!

  4. Hi Kari, I guess you are a wonderful person who drives success. I really like your article about law of attraction, I believe that what your mind is thinking it will and may happen. Everytime I attend meetings and business proposal, I wear positive aura to attract success.

  5. Interesting thoughts, the law of attraction is definitely a fascinating topic.

I find manifesting requires focusing on the same thing every day for a consistent period of time and then doing and achieving each day whatever I visualized after my morning meditation. I recommend people focus on their process workflow and on providing value to other people, rather than just thinking about what they want.

    1. I like your idea of focusing on providing value – it definetly makes everything feel lighter and more positive than being focused on money or something similar.
