I woke up feeling as though it was going to be a great day for something. And that feeling helped me kick ass in my morning and feel great each step of the way. That’s kind of what happens when you wake up with the expectation of great things!
Then, I got on Twitter and noticed that the hashtag #ItsAGreatDayFor was trending! I thought ‘what a great hashtag to write about!’ It fits in with the theme of my day.

1. A Great Day For Believing In Yourself
— Cari Cole (@CariCole) August 23, 2016
I just wrote about how important self-esteem is, so this tweet is resonating with me in a big way! Don’t wait until tomorrow or – worse, the ‘perfect moment’ to believe in yourself. Today is a great day to stand behind your abilities 100%.
2. Staying In Bed
— MTV’s Girl Code (@GirlCode) August 23, 2016
I am a strong believer in getting up and making the most of the day, but sometimes making the most of the day means staying in bed, staying at home, and shutting the world out. Sometimes you just need to chill out, rejuvenate, and get a break from the world in order to come back the next day with a relaxed and refreshed mind!
Try to think like Homer as you stay in bed. Or, pretend it’s really cold outside and your house is an oasis that keeps you warm and protected. That will totally help you feel like it is a great day for staying home and locking the world out.
3. Spending Quality Time With Loved Ones
— Kesha Tedder (@KeshaTedder) August 23, 2016
No matter what day it is, it is a great day to spend quality time with loved ones, including your pets! If you have a choice to do something that doesn’t make you happy or spend quality time with loved ones, choose the loved ones. One day they will be gone and you will cherish the time you spend with them today.
4. Laughing Your Ass Off
— Kari (@RelationshipCir) August 23, 2016
Every day that you laugh is another day worth living. Laughter decreases stress hormones, strengthens relationships, heals hurts, releases endorphins, relieves pain, gives you energy, and so much more. Make laughing your ass off a part of your daily routine because it fits into any day!
5. Feeling The Rythm
— Patrick Sims (@SimsManna) August 23, 2016
I was thinking about dancing and how weird and wonderful it is at the same time. It’s such a weird thing to do – for some more than others – but it makes you feel good and allows you to express how you are feeling. And it affects other people positively too.
For instance, you can walk the circumference of my town in about 1.5-2 hours. There is a guy we call the ‘dancing man’ who dances around town a few times a day. I love seeing him. As he waits for the light to change, his head nods, his legs move, and his arms move to a beat that only he can hear, and once he starts walking – watch out! He dances like nobody is watching. He feels good and he makes me feel good. Whether it’s hot, raining, or snowing, every day is a good day to dance for him and for anyone.
6. Improving Your Life!
#ItsAGreatDayFor making today better than yesterday😊😊
— Ellery (@ElleryBodnar12) August 23, 2016
I read a quote somewhere today that said something along the lines of ‘It doesn’t matter how slow you are going – if you are trying, then you are doing more than most people in the world!’ That reminded me that so many people are not trying to improve their lives. Instead, they sit around and do the same thing they did yesterday or, maybe some days, less than they did yesterday.
I try to see every day as a new chance to learn something new and take a step towards something better. And today IS a great day for that!
7. Sharing Something Amazing
— Depoetic (@Depoetic) August 23, 2016
Whether it is a sight, a sound, a kind word, a loving embrace, or anything else, today is a great day for sharing something beautiful! When you share something positive, you brighten up the world around you and you put yourself in a positive state of energy, which benefits the world even more. As I’ve learned from Christie Marie Sheldon, you can affect up to 750 grumpy and angry people energetically just by being in a calm and loving state. Now THAT’S sharing something amazing! And it’s definitely worth doing any day of the year.
8. Doing Something You’ve Been Putting Off
— Christine WorldWeary (@googlygirl98) August 23, 2016
Today is a great day to do that one thing you’ve been putting off, no matter how big or small it is. The thing is, if you feel like you should do something, then it’s probably going to make a difference to your life in some way. It may make you happier, feel more organized, feel less stressed, or feel better about yourself.
For instance, I was putting off cleaning my bedroom window. Why? I don’t know. It was an easy thing to do and it was driving me crazy how dirty it was. When I finally did it (because I finally told myself today is as good as day as any to do it) it made me feel instantly better. And now every time I look out the window, I feel great.
9. To Treat Yourself
— Helen Ann Cornett (@MccanirishHelen) August 23, 2016
Treat yourself to something that you really want today. Stop withholding pleasures from yourself just because you think you need to. I’m not talking about doing something that will hurt you, such as drugs or risking your life, because that’s not a treat – that’s abuse. I’m talking about having that ice cream, allowing yourself to take a bubble bath and read, or giving yourself a break from chores to watch your favorite show. Whatever a treat means to you, today is the day to give it to yourself!
10. To Make Something Nourishing
— Carina (@CertainIndivid1) August 23, 2016
I was thinking about eating out today, but this tweet reminded me that it really is a good day for making ourselves another wholesome and home cooked meal. I think we are going to make Vegan Richa’s Cabbage Kofta recipe (it’s in her book) and throw it on some rice!
