Generally speaking, a vast majority of us will struggle with our weight at some point in our lives, especially as we grow older, our metabolisms begin to slow down, and we find ourselves becoming less active. Being overweight is not only damaging for our self-esteem and self-confidence, it’s also damaging to our health. If you’re sick and tired of feeling unattractive and out of shape and are looking for an easy way to lose weight, take a look at these 7 tips designed to provide you with simple and easy ways to lose weight without working yourself into the ground.
1. Change Your Lifestyle
When people want to lose weight, what do they do? Nine times out of ten they will go on a diet, often a crash diet, which may very well help them to lose weight. But, if you check back with them a few weeks, possibly months later, you will often find that they’ve gained back all of the weight they lost as soon as they ended their diet.
If you’re looking for an easy way to lose weight, one of the easiest things you can do is to change your lifestyle instead of crash dieting.
- If you watch too much TV and don’t exercise enough, change that by becoming more active.
- If you usually fill your cupboards full of junk food, change that and buy healthy foods instead.
Don’t starve yourself or crash diet – cook healthy and balanced meals instead, and adopt a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.
2. Don’t Deny Yourself Entirely
When we diet, we deny ourselves the foods we love. Despite them being unhealthy and bad for us, we still enjoy them and crave them. So when we diet, we constantly crave unhealthy foods that we’ve denied ourselves. And when we do finish our diets or have a break from our diets, we tend to binge eat and stuff ourselves with all of the foods we denied ourselves, which again leads to weight gain.
If you’re looking for an easy way to lose weight, try treating yourself semi-regularly.
For example, if you’re used to dining out two or three times a week, dine out just once a week instead. Allow yourself a treat meal, just not a treat DAY, and – providing you get back on track the next day – you’ll be absolutely fine.
3. Don’t Surround Yourself With Temptation
If you enjoy certain junk foods, such as cakes and biscuits, it would be best to not surround yourself with these foods, no matter how strong willed you consider yourself to be.
When you go to the grocery store, don’t place them in your shopping basket “just in case” because the temptation will always be there, and on days when you feel low, or even when you’ve done better than you thought, you may tell yourself that “one won’t hurt” and before you know it you’ve consumed an entire box and have set yourself back a good week or two.
4. Exercise Regularly
Regular exercise is another easy way to lose weight and it is also one of the most important aspects of any weight-loss and healthy living program.
As for which exercise you perform, well, that’s down to you. If you hate gyms, don’t go to the gym – go swimming, cycling, or do an activity you do enjoy instead. Try to walk or cycle more places and get more active in and around the home by cleaning and gardening perhaps.
There are many different forms of exercise, so find the ones that work best for you that you actually enjoy doing and you’ll find the weight falling off you in a matter of weeks.
5. Eat Little And Often
Another fantastic method of speeding up your metabolism and get those excess calories burnt off is to make sure that you eat small and healthy meals often throughout the day.
A lot of people make the mistake of trying to starve themselves in order to lose weight, when in reality, all that actually does is slow down the metabolism and makes it harder to burn calories.
You see, the metabolism is like a fire that constantly needs to be fed wood in order to keep it burning at its hottest. If you take the wood away or prolonged periods of time, the fire gets much cooler and will give off less heat. The same thing applies for the metabolism, to keep your metabolism burning at its top capacity, you will need to ensure that you keep it fed regularly, as this will allow you to lose the most weight.
6. Set Reasonable Goals
In order to really help you ensure you lose weight in a safe and comfortable manner, you should ideally take the time to set yourself a series of reasonable and achievable goals regarding your weight loss.
Having goals to aim for will help to keep you motivated and on the right track, and will help ensure that you don’t slip off course and give in to temptation.
When you set yourself weight loss goals, make sure you set reasonable and achievable goals. For example, setting a goal for a loss of 10lbs in two weeks, is probably a little ambitious, whereas 5 – 6lbs is far more achievable and realistic.
7. Make Healthy Versions Of Your Favorite Food
We all know that losing weight is about cutting back on junk food and consuming fewer calories than we’re used to, but that does not mean we have to suffer when we diet. If you find yourself craving a certain food, make a healthy version of it.
Pizza, for example, is one of the worst junk foods you can eat, yet if you switch the base for a whole wheat base, use fresh tomato sauce, and a healthy, low-fat cheese in smaller quantities, topped off with plenty of vegetables, you can still enjoy a great meal and lose weight in the process.
You can always make healthy substitutions and variations of your favorite meals, so don’t deny yourself of the foods you enjoy, just make healthy tweaks.
