Angel Tarot Cards Review

my hand drawn version of my friendly tarot along with other occult items.I first heard of tarot cards in my late teens. Then, they were mysterious things that involved dimming the lights, connecting to spirits, and going beyond everyday normal experiences. I think my dramatic friend at that time had a hand in making tarot readings seem so mystical. Now, I see them a little differently.

When I started to get interested in Doreen Virtue, it was because of her dream interpretation course with Melissa Virtue. I have always been (and will always be) a bigger believer in paying attention to my dream life as much as my waking life.

When I realized that she had a set of tarot cards out there called, angel tarot cards, I thought of sitting around a table in my late teens looking at images on cards and being a little bit scared – again, I owe that to my dramatic friend at the time.

Angel tarot cards intrigued me, so I bought them. And, I’ve been using them almost every day since.

What I Feel Is Happening When I Read The Angel Tarot Cards

First, I wanted to let you know what I feel is happening as I sit down to read. I don’t know if it is the accepted theory or not, but it is what I experience, so it is my accepted theory on what is happening.

When I sit down, I feel as though two spirit guides sit down with me. I actually feel them and see them in my mind’s eye sitting down. Usually one sits somewhere to the left while one sits somewhere to the right. I don’t know if one is a guardian angel or not, although as I write this I am starting to feel that one definitely is my guardian angel.

In any case, these two presences are the ones who help the cards turn up the answers I need. They tell me when to shuffle, how to shuffle, and when to stop. The card or cards that turn up are the cards that I need to see for the answers.

As a side note: I often consult my dreams for answers to questions. But sometimes I wake up and forget my dreams. I also try to listen quietly to receive answers to my questions, but sometimes my mind is too busy to listen and I’m not sure what messages are actually trying to get to me. That is why I like these tarot cards. They give me answers that are visible and not ambiguous in my mind.

Angel Tarot Cards: What I Really Like About Them

I don’t have too much experience with regular tarot cards, but as far as I know, Doreen and Radleigh Valentine created these angel cards to have a more loving, positive appearance and message to them.

For instance, the death card, number 13, looks like this when I check it out on Wikipedia.

In the angel tarot cards, it looks like this:

Death Tarot Angel Cards

The picture has a softer tone to it, and instead of saying ‘death’ it says ‘release’, which really makes more sense to me as death is not a literal message to me. It is about the end of something and, possibly, the birth of something else.

To me, in the angel tarot cards, the picture displays a welcoming to this end instead of an image that you want to look away from.

So, to me, the names, images, and descriptions seem to be a lot less negative in this tarot deck than other decks I have seen as I’ve started to learn more about tarot cards.

While you do get a small description for the card below the picture, there is a book included to help interpret the meaning behind the card even further.

For instance, for the Release card, you will find the following.

Release Angel tarot card

If you can’t read it, it says:

This card signifies that it’s time to move on because this project or phase of your life is now complete. There’s no benefit in remaining in this situation. Instead, shake off the old and welcome the new! You may experience a sense of relief at this ending, or there may be some sadness. Either way, it’s time to leave that which you’ve outgrown.

Take your time in adjusting to this change in your life. It’s not necessary to rush ahead. Be kind to yourself during this period of transition, and seek the support of friends and family.

Additional meanings of this card: Inevitable positive changes. Facing your fears. Relationship transitions. Spiritual evolution.

Archangel Azrael heals your heart when changes and losses bring about grieving. Call upon Azrael to help you move forward fearlessly and let go of the past.

As you can see, the message is loving without being ignorant. Meaning, it is not trying to tell you that you should be happy: there may be sadness during this time of change.

My Experience With The Angel Deck

I do a daily reading with this deck. I ask what I should know for the day. I always pull a card that offers me insight.

For example, today I was stressing out about my lack of progress for some projects I’m working on, and the card I pulled was #6 The Lovers. It gave me the message to keep building a foundation step-by-step that will help me achieve my dreams. I came away feeling better about what I had to do today, rather than worrying about how far away I may or may not be from the end result.

I have done more in depth readings using the Celtic cross spread, and it has always been very insightful and accurate to me.

The other day my friend was having surgery. I had never read for anyone besides my husband before, and I decided to ask how her operation was going to go. The card I pulled was #21 The World. To me, it meant that this surgery was going to move her to the next level of health. She had been suffering with her medical issue for a long time, and the card clearly stated that freedom was ahead. I felt better about her operation, but I debated sending my (very religious) friend a tarot card reading. Even though I believe it is my guides and angels talking to me, she may have opposed the idea of receiving messages through cards. But, I sent it, and she quickly sent back that she really liked the message. She now wants me to bring my angel tarot cards with me on my trip to see her next month. Moreover, she thought about the message, her angels, and god to comfort her before the surgery!

The Bottom Line

I enjoy the angel tarot cards. I don’t have too much experience with other decks, but I really like the images and messages on these decks, and they have always given me the insight I need to answer my questions.

I recommend them to anyone who wants to try out tarot cards and get more visual answers from their spirit guides or angels.
