I know I don’t tend to think about my age too often. I do see a “36” in my head when I really think of my age, but I think that I still believe I am 25 on some level. That changed when I found http://you.regettingold.com that takes your age and shows you exactly how old you are what has gone on in your lifetime.
On the website you are asked to enter your day, month, and year of birth, and then you are greeted by a ton of information about…well, your age and your life to this date!
For me, I was surprised to see the 5 months added behind 36 years. It seems much older than I thought I was when you add the 5 months.
Apparently I am as old as Hilary Duff and Deva Cassel put together. That’s good to know.
I love how the website states, “You are so old that…” Those are the sayings I try to avoid with people because it actually makes them feel old! Yet, it was interesting to look at.
The site gives you a rundown of things that have happened in your life as an infant, child, teenager, and so on. I found out that I was 23 when 9/11 happened. I guess I’ve never put an age to that. That feels like yesterday, but when I see it on paper, I can actually see that many things have happened since then – good and bad.
I put my mom’s birth date in and found out that Paris Hilton and Lil Wayne put together are as old as she is! I think I will avoid sending this to her considering she turns 65 in a few days and is probably already thinking about her age enough as it is.
I did find out that Elvis first entered into the music charts with Heartbreak Hotel when she was 6, which shows that she actually grew up listening to Elvis. I always thought that he was the same age as they were. But, I guess he would have been 79 this year! (If I got my facts right.)
In case you are wondering Priscilla Presley is 69.
In any case, the age realization may or may not be a shock to you. I suppose it depends on your age and how aware you are of time and the things that have happened in your life.
I have friends around my age who are counting down the minutes in their life. They literally know how long ago we were in high school, among other periods in our life that I would never be able to pinpoint when it comes to age. They constantly refer to their age and mourn their younger years.
I wouldn’t send those friends this article because it will add to the conversations they have about how OLD they are (they’re not old!)
I’m not like that. I barely knew what age I was before I entered it into the site. And the information didn’t make me feel old; instead, it made me feel grateful for all the things that have happened in my life and all the things that will happen in my life.
A lot of stuff can happen while you are not paying attention. The site gave me a reminder to slow down, pay attention, and notice what is going on around me.
