About 10 years ago, my mom bought me a book called The Secret. Inside of it, she wrote ‘I hope all of your dreams come true’. I was working at a doggy daycare then, after just quitting a horrible job at a hospital, and I was plugging along in my daily life like most people I knew without a lot of thought about what I was going to do next.
I read The Secret and it touched me in a way that no other book had ever touched me. I suddenly saw so much potential in life.
The law of attraction resonated with me because I could see that it had been working throughout my entire life.
All the crappy boyfriends that I had in life, I had attracted by focusing on the traits I didn’t want in a boyfriend.
All the crappy jobs I had in life, I had attracted by focusing on how much work sucked.
I kept thinking of the good and bad things I had attracted into my life, and it all added up.
Even the book that my mom had bought me, I had attracted by focusing on wanting a positive change in my life.
I connected the dots easily, and I knew that the law of attraction was something I would focus on for the rest of my life.
That was the point in my life where I pivoted from waiting to see what happens to creating what happens.
Since I Read The Secret
A lot has happened since then. I’m a lot more aware of my power in life. I’m aware of how my words, emotions, and actions affect my ability to attract the life I want. I’m also a lot more open to listening to my intuition that may be pushing me towards my manifestations.
I spent many years reading about the law of attraction and manifestation. I even delved into subjects I had never even thought about before. For instance, my friends and I studied books like The Celestine Prophecy. We would actually get together and study each lesson and apply it to our lives.
For years I lived in a magical place where nothing was quite as it seemed. And I manifested a lot of good things in my life.
I stopped asking for concrete things and started focusing on living day-by-day. I still believed in the law of attraction, I just didn’t have anything specific I wanted to attract. For a long time, I’ve felt pretty good about the life I’ve manifested and was content with going day-by-day.
But lately, I’ve felt stuck. I want to attract some things into my life, but I’ve been in a state of limbo where I’m worrying and thinking too much about everything, and I can’t seem to bring them into my life – not even a little bit. And I want it to stop.
Watching The Secret Re-inspired Me
Last Sunday (it’s Tuesday today), I remembered that I had seen that The Secret was playing on Netflix. So, I grabbed my pen and paper and sat down to watch it. As soon as it came on, I felt the excitement that I felt when I first read the book.
As I was watching, I wrote down a few things that stood out to me.
The law of attraction equation: ask, believe, and receive.
And the part in the movie that talks about how to change – how to start asking, believing, and receiving and attracting more of what you want in your life. It includes three things.
I’ve decided that for the rest of the year – all of November and December – I am going to start focusing on attracting some very specific things I want into my life and practicing gratitude, visualization, and appreciation daily in order to get myself in a state to see if I can do so.
What I Want To Manifest Before The End Of The Year And How I Plan To Do It
I don’t want to just focus on ‘more money’ or a ‘healthier body’, as I’ve done in the past. I want to let the universe know exactly what I’m going after so that I can focus on what I want clearly and get some measurable results. Therefore, I’m picking some exact numbers and things to focus on. There are 3 big things.
- I want to make $20,000 in the next two months. That can be before taxes. Since I work in my own business, I need to take the taxes off myself from my income and reserve them. So, if I make $20,000, I will lose some in taxes, but I do think it’s a reasonable number for me to work towards, and it would definitely be enough money to get some things done, buy a few things we want, and put some money away for a trip we want to take early next year.
- I want to lose 20 pounds by the end of the year. I’m currently at 208.6 pounds and my measurements are 47-37-47. I hold my weight well because of my hourglass shape, and I like my body, but I’m about 40 pounds heavier than when I feel my best physically, so I’d like to lose some weight and gain some energy!
- A specific rock. I want a black rock with white lines on it that resemble an H. It doesn’t have to be a perfect H, but it does have to give the impression of an H. Why? When I first read The Secret, one of the things it talked about was trying to manifest something into your life that was off the wall and would be obviously something you attracted, and the rock is what came to mind. I lost focus on trying to attract that somewhere along the line, so I would really like to bring that into my life now.
How I Plan To Do It
Every day I’m going to practice gratitude as often as possible. I’m going to constantly look for something to be grateful for and express my gratitude in some way.
Moreover, I’m going to be grateful for what I have – the money I am making, the body I do have, and everything else in my life that is just as it’s supposed to be right now.
As Abraham-Hicks has said, “You have to be satisfied with what-is while reaching for more,” because if you don’t feel good on the way there, you can’t get there.
I’m also going to visualize what I want to attract, morning, noon, and night.
I’ll be visualizing myself looking at my earnings ledger and seeing a total of $20,000.
I’ll be visualizing easily buying my family some gifts – at any price – for Christmas, because we have more than enough money to do so.
I will be visualizing my husband and me buying something without much thought if we want it or need it.
I’m going to use appreciation to help me pivot from negative feelings to more positive ones.
Appreciation is something else they talked about in The Secret, and I really like the idea for moving from a negative state to a positive one.
For instance, if I start focusing on something I don’t like about myself, I’m going to try to appreciate some things about myself that I do like. It will help me shift my focus and get into a better state.
4. Inspired Action
I’m going to take inspired action whenever inspiration comes knocking. I’m a strong believer that the universe will send you people, circumstances, and challenges to accomplish in order to bring your manifestation into existence, so I know that following my inspiration – even if it gets in the way of my daily schedule – is important to actually get what I want!
So, if I get the urge to turn right instead of left, I’m not going to ignore my inspiration! I’m going to take action and turn right and see where the road takes me.
